The lucky wisdom of the farmer and the beans
Once upon a time there was a farmer who put a handful of beans in his left trouser pocket every morning. Whenever he had experienced something nice during the day, when something gave him joy or he felt a moment of happiness, he would take a bean from his left trouser pocket and put it in his right. At first this didn't happen very often. But day by day more and more beans made their way from his left to his right pocket. The scent of the fresh morning air, the song of the blackbird on the roof ridge, the laughter of his children, the pleasant conversation with a neighbor - a bean always made its way from his left to his right pocket. Before he went to bed that evening, he counted the beans in his right trouser pocket. And with each bean he could remember the positive experience. He fell asleep content and happy - even though he only had one bean in his right trouser pocket.
